Lil_Buckaroo

Just in time for the Holiday gift giving! This Lil' Buckaroo Stirrup is so precious, we had to show it off!

It is made using the same craftmanship and attention to detail as all our stirrups, just in a smaller size!  They are fully functional and made to be used as a child's first introduction to horses.

We are so excited to be able to be a small part of that magical time for a child, when they begin riding for their first time with their own saddle!  They will be making memories and having the stirrup as a heirloom reminder of that special time in their life, so that someday they will be able to share it with their own children!  Go here for more details:  http://www.donorrellstirrups.com/Lil-Buckaroo.html

kelley_offset_bootAt a recent weekend cutting clinic taught by Michael Cooper, Bucyrus, KS and sponsored by Purina, our offset stirrups were in high demand!  As the participants worked on the cutting basics, from dry working their horse to improving their herd work, many of them found that the offset stirrups assisted them in keeping their feet in the correct position during those hard stops and turns.  The Offset stirrups encourage a natural dropping of the heel, which in turn helps you sit deeper in your stops.

We had a great time at the clinic catching up with old friends and making many new ones.   It was great seeing the participant's progress from learning the very basics of cutting, like dry working their horse, to picking and remembering their own cattle, and finally to a judged cutting where the cutter's had to not only show their horse, but also had to help each other pick cows and hold herd.  Michael did an awesome job coaching and everyone we talked to gained a lot of confidence in their riding ability.  It was a great opportunity for us to encourage some new and seasoned cutter's to try our Offset's to see how they liked them.  Here's what one of our new friends had to say about our Offset Stirrups;  Kelly Boyle states - "my old ones were offset, but nothing like these, these feel much nicer. "  Kelley is sporting her new Don Orrell Offset stirrups in the attached photo.  More photos from the event are available at our Facebook page at:  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Don-Orrell-Stirrups/133641763332950

thumb_NRBC_Walnut_2011One of the things that sets Don Orrell Stirrups apart is the way Don selects the most beautiful wood grains for his stirrups!  This picture is a good example of how vastly different wood grains and color can be, even though it's the same wood type.  All three of these stirrups are made of Walnut.  All three have a totally different look.  You can find all three of these beauties at Kyle Tack's booth at the National Reining Breeders Classic this weekend, April 18 - 24, 2011.  Stop by and see Marshall Kyle to hand select your own unique pair of Don Orrell Stirrups!  http://www.nrbc.com/index.php

Don Orrell Flat Bottom Sweetgum Stirrup

We were excited to see a great picture of our stirrups on this month's cover of The Cutting Horse Chatter.  They were on Pete Branch's saddle during his winning ride to the NCHA Open World Championship in Ft. Worth!  Congratulations once again to Pete.
